17 week Dr's Appt

Baby and I had our 17 week Dr's appt today and everything went beautifully! Mike was able to come to the appt so it was a lot of fun!

First of all, for those of you who know I have been worrisome about my AFP testing, I am happy to say that everything came back negative and completely normal, Praise the Lord! The beginning of the appt is always the funnest for me because we get to hear the munchkin's heartbeat. This was the first time Mike was able to hear it with the doppler so that was great too. Our little active one was all the way on the right side of my belly when she first found him/her and then moved all the way to the left side in just about 2 seconds! Our medical assistant had to chase him/her for a little while, but we got to hear a great, solid heartbeat as well as the occassional LOUD sound from him/her punching or kicking! We've got a lively one :)!

Also, I gained 8 POUNDS in the last three weeks, which, even though it was a lot, was very much needed. I am now about +5 lbs from my "pre-pregnancy" weight which my doctor was very happy with. I can't gain that much in one stretch again right now, but it was good that I got caught up.

Also, for those of you who have been following this, it seems as though Mike is going to be on a workup (on the ship) at the time we are able to find out our baby's sex. I was bummed about this and talked to my doctor about it, and she put in an order for us to be able to get a 2D ultrasound before Mike leaves at another doctor's office to see if we can find out the sex then! We are praying that our insurance accepts it and that we will find out SOON! We will let you know more next week!

Dancing Baby?

Short story from last night. I was pretty pooped from a long day at work and no nap, so I was laying on the couch watching American Idol, when, to my amazement I felt a little flutter in my tummy! I was half asleep but woke up real fast and told Mike, "I think I feel the baby moving!" I waited and felt it a little more, and it was different from a rumbly tummy, more like butterflies, and went away after a few moments. It was BARELY noticeable but maybe something? I know it will get stronger over time and I will soon be able to tell for sure, but though it was exciting enough to share for now!

Belated: Mike's Birthday Cake (2/15/08)

So this is a late post, but I just found our camera cord and was able to finally download these pictures! This was the day after Mike's actual birthday, while we were still up at his parents. I made him a belated birthday cake last year since he wasnt home for his birthday and this year he wanted the same cake. It's my own "recipe" or rather, combining things we both really enjoy eating! It's a vanilla cake, with banana pudding, and cut up strawberries and bananas! It is SOOOO yummy, and I'm not much of a cake person! Anyways, I liked how the pictures turned out, and I LOVE the one of Mike with the cake :)! Enjoy!!

Maternity Clothes/16 weeks and One Day

Here's a picture of me in one of my new maternity outfits that my wonderful hubby bought for me! I LOVE maternity pants. No more squeezing into uncomfortable jeans for me anymore! I got my shirts at Kohl's, just regular shirts, thankfully A-line, or poofy at the bottom shirts are in now, so they fit nicely! Not the best pic, since I took it with my cell in the bathroom at work, but you get the idea, the bump is growing!

P.S. For Auntie Sarah and others who are wondering, Mike and I were planning on registering after we know what our little munchkin is, but we might start registering for things that dont depend on the sex sooner then that, we'll keep you updated!

Happy 4 Months to Me!

I AM 4 MONTHS PREGNANT TODAY! YAY! For some reason 4 months seems like a big marker to me, not sure why, but it just does! It sounds longer to me I guess. Plus, exciting things start to happen about now, like the belly growing, and feeling our munchkin move soon, and finding out the sex of our little one! Mike and I are going clothes shopping today (what a sweet guy to go shopping with me when all I have been saying lately is how unattractive I feel and blah blah blah lately)! YAY! I dont think I will fit into any maternity clothes persay, but with only two pairs of jeans that fit now, and me just needing to feel "girly", out we go! Last night at Target I got a really cute shirt that is actually supposed to be a swimsuit coverup I think, but I am wearing that today and will try to have Mike take a picture of me to put up! There isnt really anything exciting going on, but I was just excited to sing me and baby the little Happy 4 month song (even though the baby really has only been in there for 3.5 months!)! Updates

Mike and I are continuing to do well, getting settled into our apartment and both busily back to work. Moving in has gone pretty smoothly overall, no thanks to me! Mike has done virtually everything once again! I really amd the luckiest girl for snagging him! We're still waiting to find out what is going on with Mike's work situation as well. He had a dr. appt this week which didnt do much because they didnt have all the paperwork, but we will try again next week! Please keep us in your prayers!
Work has been going well for me and has been an easy transition overall. I have been tired at the end of the days which is funny to me, considering all I do is sit at a computer all day, but otherwise, the stress level is almost non-existent thanks to my co-workers!
Our little Munchkin seems to be doing well. I will be 16 weeks this Sunday, aka, 4 MONTHS! Seems fast and slow at the same time! The belly is growing little bit at a time, sometimes I feel huge, others I dont feel much different. I am sure that will all change soon enough! Not too much longer till we will be able to feel him or her moving and be able to tell which gender our munchkin is! We havent picked out any names yet, I know a lot of you are wondering, and we aren't sure yet if we're going to keep it a secret or tell everyone the name when we do pick one, we shall see!!
Please keep Brutus in your prayers too, he hurt his leg while he was sleeping a week ago (same hurt leg) and has to go to the vet again tomorrow!

Interesting Day Part 2

So I left off earlier saying that the insurance company had my number in case they needed to get ahold of me. Mike called me back, only to tell me that they couldnt get in the trunk of the car. Therefore, Mike borrowed a friend's car, came to my work, got some information he needed, had to go to the dmv to get the registration which also seems to be in the trunk for some reason, then go to the dealership, get a key made, and just made it back to base. I managed to go home at lunch and the apartment complex manager lent me a spare set of keys to get into the apartment. Well, Mike just calls me, after spending the last what, 5 hours trying to take care of this, and got back to the mustang with the newly made key, and just our luck today... it doesnt work. It only opens the doors, not the trunk and it doesnt turn the car on either. Hilarious or just cruel, I can't figure it out. Poor Mike! Guess the luck of the Irish wont hit us till March! Hope we get it figured out soon!!!

Interesting Day

I only have a minute to blog this, but its been an interesting/ironic day today for Mike and I. Started off with me waking up late and getting to work late, only after I cut the tip of my finger with a knife, and locked my apartment keys in the aparment. Haha. So at least I still had the car keys to be able to make it to work, right? I called Mike when I got to work and asked him if he could meet me at home for lunch to let me in so we could check on the dogs. He agreed only to call me back a half hour later saying he locked his keys in the car!! AHHHHH! So he called our insurance who we have roadside assistance with and scheduled to have them come help him out. Then... his phone died. Gosh, it doesnt get better than that! I had to call the insurance company and give them my number, so if they have a problem getting onto the base I can go out there and help them because Mike is at his allergy appt right now. Too funny. I mean, what are the chances of all of that happening in one day, actually, all before noon?! Knock on wood, nothing else will happen, actually, we aren't superstitious, but still!! Our Wonderful Valentine's Night

We had the most wonderful Valentine's Day/Night and time to celebrate Mike's 23rd birthday! The day was pretty normal and I (Laura) was feeling pretty crummy with the cold, but I had quite the surprise planned for Mikey that night! I reserved a room in the nearby town of Chester at the Bidwell House Inn Bed and Breakfast http://www.bidwellhouse.com/. They gave me a great rate for their very nice Meadow View Room. So, after Mike and I went and had a great dinner, we went there. We were able to completely relax in our VERY romantic room with a jacuzzi tub (too bad Laura couldnt get in, just my feeties) a heater, and our huge King pillow top bed. We exchanged presents, Mike got me an adorable set of pj's that show off my preggy belly and say "Mike's Girl" on them, a really sweet teddy bear that I LOVED, and a special plaque he had made with a sweet letter he wrote for me on it, so thoughtful and a lot of work went into those presents!! I got him the wallet I got him for Christmas that got stollen, a teddy bear, a framed copy of my wedding vows, and surprised him by having our wedding dvd ready to watch! He was really surprised and had no idea I had been able to get it!!! We had SUCH a great time and woke up this morning to another romantic time, BREAKFAST IN BED! The managers of the inn showed up at our room at 9 am with breakfast trays in hand, it was wonderful and we were definetely feeling spoiled!!! Definitely one to go down in our books for wonderful memories!!! Hope everyone else had a great Valentine's Day too!!!

Happy Birthday To My Valentine!!

HAPPY 23RD BIRTHDAY MIKE AND HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY SWEETIE!

Hi Everyone! Sorry it has been a little while since I updated, here are our most recent adventures.

Mike got home last Friday :D! We had a great first afternoon/evening together and a busy second day together running errands. Then, Mike drove all night Saturday night to get us up here to his parents house in Westwood, CA. We arrived safely on Sunday morning and have been having a great time visiting ever since. We have been getting spoiled with great home cooking, family games, and lots and lots of rest! Unfortunately I have developed a cold while being up here, but I am hanging in there and hopefully it will be over soon!!

As far as baby updates go, I had an appointment on Friday before Mike came home, and got to hear the baby's heartbeat again! She found it quickly and the baby is still sitting quite low in my pelvic area! Belly is definetely growing. Pictures are below! Somedays and sometimes it looks bigger or smaller, but here are pictures nonetheless!! Turns out we wont be finding out the sex of our little munchkin for about another 7-8 weeks, so bare with us while we wait and keep on letting us know which sex you think Baby Kincaid might be!!!

I will be going back to work this coming Monday! Please keep me in your prayers as I adjust to working fulltime again, and as I feel like the "newbie" with learning the new computer system we are using!

Today is Mike's 23rd birthday and our first Valentine's day together and we are going to be celebrating it later on tonight, more updates tomorrow or in the next few days because right now, its a surprise for Mike!

Belly Pics

Nope, not on this blog!!!! I know people have been dying to see them, I have gotten quite a few messages from family and friends saying that even if the belly hasn't been growing, put pics up! It's great to know so many people are excited about our pregnancy! I was planning on taking some pics this last Sunday when I passed my 13 week mark but thought about it more and decided against it. Believe it or not, Mike has not seen me, or any pictures of me since he left (well, any current/recent pictures of me). So the last picture in his mind that he has of me is the morning he left, me in my pajamas with no belly. Now I cant lie and say there is a huge difference, but I can definetely see one, somewhere between last Saturday and Sunday night, baby and/or my belly grew! Very exciting and making this all the more real for me! So alas, long story aside, I dont want to put pics up here for all to see until Mike can see me, so wait until this next weekend and we'll share it with everyone!

As for other updates, MIKE IS COMING HOME THIS WEEK!!!!! :D! I am feeling better overall, no more spotting, Praise the Lord! I still have nausea frequently but its been awhile since it's been extreme. More foods are sounding good to me, though I can easily say there will be little or no red meat for this momma during pregnancy! Something about it just grosses me out, aside from that, I am eating very healthy (Mike calls and makes sure of that) and still resting until the doctor says I can go back to work!

Please continue to keep us in your prayers; for Mike to make it home safely, for baby and me to continue to be healthy, and for our pending move, that God would guide us to where He wants us to live!!!!

2 days and 6 days away......

.....from being 13 weeks pregnant, and from Mike finally coming HOME! I know 13 weeks isn't a milestone, but it's exciting to be further and further along, especially because Mike is coming home FINALLY and will be able to see not only me (:D) but my growing tummy soon!! I was thinking about how so many men get to watch their wives grow over time, day by day, and even though they might be huge at the end (I can say that since one day I will be) their husbands watched it progress everyday. Then I was thinking about my own situation and how bittersweet it is, because the time when Mike is home could not be more precious and mean more to be, but it's so heartbreaking to me that he isnt able to enjoy every moment of this journey at home with me!! I can't wait for him to come home next week; the understatement of the century!!
For those of you who dont know, Mike's 23rd birthday is this coming Valentine's day (how perfect that the day meant for Sweethearts was the day God brought My Sweetie into this world!) and this will be the FIRST ONE we have celebrated together! Married for two years and almost together for three and haven't celebrated his birthday together yet, I can't wait! Not sure what the plans are since we are "homeless" at the moment (haha) and I am still on bedrest but whatever we do will be fantastic because we will be together! Ironic thinking, first birthday together, last one before he is officially a Daddy (with a baby in the flesh and not just in my belly!)
