Christmas Poem

A Christmas Poem Mike's Mom sent to me. I know its a little negative, but after all, Christmas is all about CHRISTmas and its about time we all remember that!!

`Twas the month before Christmas when all through our land
Not a Christian was praying, not taking a stand.
Why the PC Police had taken away
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.

The children were told by their schools not to sing
About shepherds and wise men and angels and things.
It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would say,
December 25th is just a 'holiday'.

Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!
CD's from Madonna, an X Box, an i-pod.
Something was changing, something quite odd!

Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanza
In hopes to sell books by Franken and Fonda.
As Targets are hanging their trees upside down,
At Lowe's the word Christmas was nowhere to be found.

At K-Mart and Staples and Penney's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.

Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, On Rather, On Kerry On Clinton !
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus in all public matter.

And we spoke not a word as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.
The true gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season stopped before it started.

So as you celebrate 'Winter Break' under your 'Dream Tree'
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully, choose what you say,
Shout "MERRY CHRISTMAS" not 'Happy Holiday'.

My Anthem...

I'm having a rough day today....
Mike left this morning for the ship...again. Thankfully he will be home for Christmas but unfortunately we will miss spending the whole season together.
I wore my "I love my Sailor" sweatshirt today to work that Mike got for me for Christmas almost two years ago. The following poem is proudly displayed on the back of it.
It's my anthem....
I am in love with a United States Sailor. I will support him in his defense of the Constitution of the United States of America and I will understand that they must obey the orders of those appointed over them. I represent the true fighting spirit of the Navy and those who have gone before me with strength and loyalty around the world. I proudly stand by the one I love with honor, courage, and commitment. I am committed to my Sailor and to the United States Navy.

Family Updates!

Hi guys,

Sorry it has been awhile since we have updated this thing, its been a busy week for us. Seems like it was longer ago that I blogged, but I guess it has only been a week.

Things that have been happening lately in our lives:

1. The dogs got out two weekends ago but we were able to get them back and they are all safe and sound.
2. We found a wonderful and awesome Christian family that adopted Bella last week. It is a great story of how God works in ALL things and if you want to know more, I'd be glad to share more in detail.
3. Brutus had to have a THIRD surgery on Monday to prevent any further injuries to his leg. he now has a METAL POLE attached to the outside of his leg which I have to admit, is a VERY scary sight for us (I'll put pictures up later)
4. Our laptop at home broke, we are in the process of fixing it thanks to Uncle Jim and Mike's brother-in-law Ed, but it might be a little while before it's all said and done.
5. We had Dad and Donna over this last weekend for dinner, it was a great time and the first time we have been able to have them over to our house on base!!
6. Dad and Mike worked long and hard on Monday to fix our very messed up and out-dated fence (pictures to come later)!
7. Mike and I went to see the BEE movie and LOVED it! If you aren't able to get to the theatre to see it, we highly suggest renting it!
Last but most definetely not least at all:
8. Mike leaves again on Monday, it's hard putting that as just a number on a list of what is happening in our lives right now, because it is SO much more then that. It's the last thing on the list, but the most important and substantial thing that is going on. I am not ready at all for him to leave again, I never am, and am having a really hard time with this whole season. I am not in the Christmas/Thanksgiving/Holiday mood at all, and its really hard to think about being in it without Mike home to enjoy the whole "season" with me. I am SO VERY thankful he will be home for the actual holidays, but we will miss out on all the festivities together. This time he is gone he will be on the ship, I dread these trips WAY more then the ones when he is in Nevada, we wont be able to talk much at all and it's extremely lonely....so please keep us in prayer this season, for our spirits, for us in general, that the email and phone lines on the ship work, for safety and good health for Mike, and for me, that I can handle everything that goes on here while he is gone, and that the dogs dont give me any extra trouble!

Thanks to you all!

Love and Blessings,

Mike and Laura

Thankfulness

Mike wasn't answering his phone earlier when I was on break, so I took some time just to write for a moment, and this is what came out:

It's the month of thanksgiving, and rememberance of all that God has given to us. But in the midst of all the wonderful things I have to be thankful for, I need to remind myself to be thankful for the hardships, the trials, the droughts in my life and seasons of questioning. Because in my eyes, its the easiest thing in the world to be thankful for Jesus who has saved me from my sins, to be thankful for the most wonderful man ever that He has blessed me with to spend the rest of my life with, for the job he has provided for me(on the good days), for my family and friends that I hold so dear to my heart, for my dogs, and the fact that I have a roof over my head. But I must also earnestly thank Him for the arguments that He resolves that make Mike and I grow closer, the times when I cant feel God close to me, when I question Him because it causes me to draw nearer, for the times when my faith and my patience are tested to the brink of all that I have, that those fruits, and so many other can continue grow and mature and be blessings to God. I must thank Him for the time money is tight, so that I can be reminded to use it wisely and not store up treasures in this earth, for the times when I am lonely so that I will remember He is my comfort. I need to remind myself this season, and all seasons, that I have SO much to be thankful for in both the good and the bad. Because it's so true that ALL things work together for the good of those who love Him!Thanksgiving be unto God for everything He has blessed me with!!

Funny Story: Our Houdini Dog

Just wanted to give you all a good Friday chuckle....

Mike just called me a little bit ago and said, "You want to hear a funny story? You'll never guess what just happened."

Of course, I asked, and he said "Brutus just locked me out of my truck!!!!!"

Mike apparently took Brutus with him to get the Naval Base decals for his truck on the Port Hueneme base. Mike left Bruttie in his truck while he went in, and also left the keys in the truck (I know, I know, I am always telling him not too, I'm surprised Brutus didn't drive off). I guess Brutus stood up on the armrest and pushed the lock button and locked all the doors!!!!
Luckily, Mike had left some of the windows cracked and also had a broom in the bed of his truck (why, I dont know, haha) so he was able to stick the broom inside and unlock the door, but only after setting off the alarm first ;)! Poor guy!!! Brutus was waiting for him, watching him the whole time with his tail a-wagging!!!!

Kermit The Froggie

We had a visitor in our backyard last night!!!

This little frog somehow found his way into our backyard!Brutus wouldn't go out to go to the bathroom because he was out there!!!

We put him in a cup really quick just to get a look at him without him trying to get away!

He sure was a cute little fellow! Too bad our house is already past overflow ;)! Mike and I both took turns holding him, hope we dont get warts!! Haha! We introduced him to Bear (dont worry, he didnt get close) and Bear was more scared then Kermie!! There is sure never a dull day or night in the Kincaid household!!

And.....drumroll....He's HOME!

YUP! It's true, Mike is FINALLY home! He got home at like 7pm on Saturday night and boy was he a sight for sore eyes! I fell in love with him all over again right when he walked through that front door!!!! <3 <3!!!!!

We had a really great rest of the weekend together, taking care of some stuff around the house and running errands together! It was a blast!!!! No pictures yet, though I did snap some last night of the frog we found in the backyard, I will have to put those up later on, but yes, he is finally home and I feel like I can breathe again!

Thanks to everyone for all the phone calls/emails/ and messages while he was gone!

I hope the next 3 weeks go by sooo sloooowly, because I cant even think of him leaving again!
