Health Update

I received a phone call from my Doctor's office this morning with good news and bad news. Thankfully the bad news isn't horrible! First off, I took my glucose test last week to check and make sure I do not have gestational diabetes; and I don't! YAY! That can cause a LOT of complications in pregnancy and childbirth and I was really happy to find out that that's one problem this pregnancy I wont have to deal with.
The "bad" news is that my anemia has gotten worse :(. I have been taking my iron supplements everyday once a day, but they have now increased my dosage to three times a day. Hopefully that will help. I have still been feeling very dizzy/light-headed at least once every day or two, so I am hoping that the increase in iron will help me with that.
Please continue to keep Brayden and I in your prayers, that we would continue to stay healthy and strong throughout the pregnancy, especially our little Brayden! Also, continued good health for Mike as well; he is doing such a great job taking care of us! Thank you all!

Corona Trip to See Nick and Jessica!

We had such a wonderful weekend in Corona with Nick and Jessica this last weekend! Mike and I drove down Saturday afternoon and stayed the night and drove back home yesterday. We went to the pool together, watched a movie, went out for a date night, ate at I-Hop again (and almost closed them down with how much food we ordered) and went to Tom's Farms to pet the animals at the Petting Zoo! We are so blessed to have them only a couple hours away and cant wait till we have our little babies to play together! Jessica is due with her beautiful little Jayda Love on Father's Day, and Brayden will be here just a little while after!! Hope you enjoy looking at the pictures!

Mike and Laura's Ark?

We thought the flood in our apartment was over when I posted on the blog on Sunday, however, we were sadly mistaken and the water kept coming!

After the maintenance guy from the apartments came out on Sunday to fix the water heater, Mike and I went out for a bit since I had a bit of energy and we wanted to take advantage of it! When we got home, we were just relaxing in the living room and it wasnt until about 9 at night on Sunday that we realized the water damage wasnt getting better; it was getting worse! At that point, the flooding had spread from where the water heater was under a cabinet in our dining room/kitchen area, to our bathroom sink area and the beginning of our bedroom!! The maintenance guy came out again, and after 2 hours of work, couldnt fix the problem. They ended up having to turn off ALL the water to our whole building for the night, and finally another plumber came out yesterday to fix it and turn it back on. In the meantime, Mike and I have had the joy of walking around in shoes all the time in the apartment, with ripped up carpet, tacks and nails sticking through, and very loud fans!!

Thankfully, at this point in time, I can say it is all said and done. They fixed the carpet this afternoon and hopefully we wont have any more issues! The dogs have been champs through it all, being very good about where they walk and letting us know when they needed to go out, etc. I am just glad it's all over with! Just another adventure for us! It isnt the first time and it for sure wont be the last time I will say this, there is NEVER a dull moment in the Kincaid household!!!

Happy 6 Months to Brayden and I!

YAY! I am 6 months pregnant today!! It seems like such a huge milestone to me, to just about be starting my third and final trimester! Our little Brayden will be here before we know it!
I know some of you are anxiously waiting for pictures, however, I've been under the weather this weekend and not up to taking any of myself! I promise they will come sometime this week though!
Brayden and I are continuing to grow and he is moving ALL the time now. It's so much fun to be able to feel him in one place at one time and then 20 minutes later feel his kicks and punches from a completely different spot! I can feel him as high as about an inch above my belly button, isnt that crazy?!
Mike had another fun Father/Son moment last night as Brayden was showing off just how tough and strong he was by kicking Daddy's hand, HARD! We were watching UFC at the time, and for those of you who know about Mike's love of the sport, he of course said that Brayden was moving because it was UFC time ;)!

We've had a really lazy weekend, were bummed to not be able to go to our friends' baby shower since I havent been feeling the best, and then this morning had the joy of finding out our water heater broke and soaked a lot of our carpet in our dining room area. I am sitting here now with the load roar of a carpet fan going in the background which we will be hearing for the next couple of days until it dries out....

Thanks for continuing to think of us, and for checking the blog often! I'll leave you with this little blurb from babycenter.com. I get weekly baby/pregnancy updates from them in my email, and here is the one from today!

Hello, Laura!Your baby is growing steadily, gaining about a quarter of a pound since last week. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), that makes for a pretty lean figure, but his body's filling out proportionally. Your baby's brain is growing rapidly, and his taste buds may be working now. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" and cells that produce surfactant, a substance that helps the air sacs inflate easily. Your baby can hear more now, and you may even notice his startle at loud, sudden noises. But he's probably getting used to the regular noises he hears around the house, such as your dog barking or the roar of a vacuum cleaner.

The top of your uterus is now an inch or so above your belly button, which means it's about the size of a soccer ball. (crazy huh?!)

Marathon Daddy!

Just a fun little tidbit to share...

Mike was in a 5k today on the base to celebrate Earth Day! Out of about 250-300 people, he came in about 40th and I am proud of him!! I didnt realize it was going to be such a big deal or I would have gotten out of work to go watch him! He got to come home early today since he was in it and I met him at home for lunch. He had just gotten home and was still in his running clothes with his little tag/number on his shirt too! So cute! I forced him to let me take a picture which I will try to put up here later on! Even after being all tuckered out from the run, he surprised me by making lunch for me and having it all set out when I got home; what a sweetheart :)!

Here's the pic of my Marathon Man!

Gassy Issues

Haha, no, not the kind you are thinking of ;)
As if the soaring gas prices aren't bad enough.....running out of gas, having to purchase a gas can ($13, can you believe that?!), and then having to purchase gas on top of that and then being late to work sure is ;)!

Yup, we had quite a morning on our hands today!
I usually drive the truck during the work week since I have all of a 3 mile commute to my job, and Mike takes the Mustang. Well, the truck was on empty as I drove home yesterday and Mike said he was going to take it today to fill it up on base, since gas is cheaper there. I warned him that there might not be enough to get him there, but I even thought myself that there probably was...

About 10 minutes after he left, I heard my phone ring and sure enough, it's my wonderful husband, telling me he is stranded on the side of the road :(! I threw my shoes on and headed out the door, got to the gas station in record time, only to have to purchase a $13 2GALLON gas can (I think I should have gotten the gas for free for that price!) and then had to spend like $7 on gas to put in it, and drive it out to Mike.

So much for the "easy flow" gas can I bought, I think about a quarter of it ended up on Mike, on my seat and on the street, but thankfully it was enough to get him to the base!

I called him after we headed our separate ways, teasing him saying that he just wanted to see me again and get one more kiss ;)! It's good that we can laugh at it, afterall, it was pretty funny, but just thought you would all enjoy another Mike and Laura adventure!!

P.S. Did you know that you can get a ticket for running out of gas?! We had a cop pull up and offer to help us and a coworker told me we were lucky not to get fined!! That definetely would have added to the "fun" of all of it! ;)!

Quick Update

Brayden and I had another Dr's appt today, unfortunately Daddy wasnt able to make it, but hopefully next time! Everything is progressing just fine. I have been struggling with some dizziness and light-headedness lately, and am getting some blood tests done this coming week just to make sure my anemia is on the mend and my thyroid levels are normal. All else is good. Brayden appears to be thriving, not only is he moving much much more these days, or at least I can feel him much more, but he had a beautiful strong heartbeat at the appt today, and along with Mommy, we gained 5 POUNDS in the last two weeks....Haha! I am not quite sure where it went because everyone keeps telling me how tiny I am all the time, but nonetheless, we're growing! We have another appt next week, just to make sure my bloodwork comes back alright, since I am being tested for gestational diabetes as well, and to see my regular dr since she was out today! That's about it from our side of the world, love to you all from Mike, Brayden and I!

Gregory's Baseball Game; Go Dodgers!

Mike and I had a great time yesterday meeting up with some of my family for Gregory's First Pitch Baseball game! This is his first season playing and being the proud auntie that I am, I have to say, he is quite the player! In First Pitch they have three innings and all three times that Gregory got to bat, he hit the ball on the very first pitch and made it home for every run too!! It was so fun to watch him play and to watch our other nephew, Adam play with his little friends too! He is such a cutie pie! My dad was at the game too and we had a great time visiting with him too! Brian and Spring also treated us to lunch afterward which was delicious and a lot of fun too (thanks guys!) Brayden was a happy boy because Mommy got her mexican food and he kicked for awhile afterwards!

We had a pretty low key day for the rest of the day but had a great family moment with Brayden showing off how hard he can kick for Daddy! It was the second time Mike has been able to feel him, but Brayden was much more powerful yesterday and Mike was amazed! He thought he was trying to break out!

We're heading out to run some errands and do a little shopping. I'm going to get those ultrasound pictures up tonight as well as a couple pics of the growing Brayden/belly for Grandma Jessup, she just cant get enough!

Almost 22 weeks!

Sorry it has been a couple days since I have updated! We have had a busy few days! Brayden is doing well! Quite active the other day before our ultrasound and then decided to be a sleepy boy! We had our ultrasound on Wednesday and had so much fun being able to see him! He still likes to keep those adorable little hands by his face all the time, we'll have to play peek a boo with him when he gets older and see how he likes it, and he's got beautiful long legs and adorable feet! We got a really cute picture of one of his feet that I will try to post this weekend and also one of his profile (bummer that they took it in video mode, so it looks a bit blurry!) His heartbeart was 153, which is great, and we got to watch it flutter, and see his cute little round tummy too. I must say, we have quite the cutie pie on our hands!

Also, a fun surprise to come home to yesterday, Elissa, Mike, and Logan Morris blessed us with more presents for our little man! Those are the pictures above, I just cant get over how cute all the clothes are!! Thank you so much for getting these for us, we cant wait to be able to dress him up and take pictures in them! We've got quite a little selection going for him in our closet now and I have fun looking at the clothes everyday! I really love the soft blanket that they sent to us too, we are doing a puppy theme, so it goes perfectly! Mike always asks why they dont make "big people" (yes, thats how he says it, haha!) blankets that soft, good question!!

Can't believe I will already be 5.5 months this coming Sunday, my my my how time is flying! We are looking forward to a pretty low key weekend this weekend, but will take pictures of the bedding when we get it and will put up the ultrasound pictures when we get to scan them! Hope all is well with all of you!

Updates

Mike and I made our first big purchase for Brayden last night and bought his whole bedding set for his nursery! We couldnt find any sets at Target or Babies R Us that we liked, but found this one called "Puppy Tales" by Kids Line that we both loved and decided to go ahead and get it ourselves, since there is plenty of other things we have registered for/need to register for!! Here is a picture of the whole set just for you all to see!!Also, I had a checkup with my Dr yesterday since I wasnt feeling 100% (Brayden is doing a-ok! just Mommy wasnt feeling well) and she went ahead and scheduled an ultrasound for us for this afternoon! We just had one a couple of weeks ago when we found out Brayden's gender, but that was through a specialist, so it's been awhile since we have had just a checkup one at our normal Dr's office! Hey, we wont argue getting to see our beautiful little boy as much as possible! Hopefully we'll get more pictures to be able to scan and share!
Also, we're planning on registering either tonight or sometime this week at Babies R Us, just for those of you who have wanted to know! We are going to be working on updating our Target registry as well now that we have Brayden's "theme" picked out!!
