Chicken Pox!

A week and a half ago, Brayden got his year old shots, one of which includes the Varicella (chicken pox) shot. They warned me about the fever that goes along with vaccines and told me he could get a mild rash as well. Two days later Brayden started getting a few spots here or there, which continued through Emily's visit, and have gotten even worse the past couple of days. I was able to get him into the doctor this morning, and they only confirmed that Brayden did "get" the chicken pox from the shot, and that they could continue to get worse for about another week and then should die off and heal up. Thankfully, the rash and the fever is about the extent of his "illness" and he has not tried to itch them once!!! I think it's harder for me to keep worrying about it than it is for him to have them! We're hoping they go away soon!

Other than that, Brayden is cutting his second tooth (first one is still a little less than 1/2way through) and has developed some picky eating habits that Mommy is not to keen on! If any of you other moms have any advice about picky eaters at this young of an age, please let me know! He's also into trying Mommy and the word "no" to see me follow through in discipling him! I am on my toes with him all the time, thus, the lack of blogging recently! With me protectively over him and hands ready to grab, he climbed the entire staircase today all on his own for the first time, and it only took him about a minute. His favorite foods continue to be graham crackers and applesauce :). He's still napping twice a day and sleeping 10-11 hours a night! YAY! We're actively participating in our Library's "Little Scribblers" reading program and Brayden loves playing with the puppets and puzzles there too! Everyone is CONSTANTLY remarking on his beautiful blue eyes and his big bright smile. He is a social butterfly and is a HUGE flirt! He has the girls at the grocery store eating out of his hands!

Mike is recovering great from his accident. His arm is healing, slower than he would like, but nicely all the same. Thanks to our insurance and credit union, the financial aspect of the accident has been completely taken care of, praise the Lord! Mike also had his third round of tests today and passed all of them! He is quickly moving up the ranks of his class and his goal is to make top 10, which I have no doubt he will do! He was really concerned about today's tests, and after his study group last night, he came home and we cranked out another hour of studying. Over 1/4 of his class failed at least one test today and I am just so proud of Mike for working so hard! He is hoping to be completely cleared for PT soon and is looking forward to the more physical aspects of training, learning defensive tactics, etc! All three of us look forward to our Sundays and Mondays together SO much, relaxing and playing together as much as we can! I am just really thankful he is still here with us, healthy, and able to come home every night to be with us! He is doing such a GREAT job! We LOVE you Mike!!! Keep up all of your AMAZING work! Only 4 months to go!!!

Poor little bubbus!! I remember chicken pox and it was not fun. I'm glad he isn't scratching at them. That will help a lot!! Get well soon Brayden!

Wow I can't believe he got the chicken pox from the vaccine! Poor little guy! Hope it goes away quickly! As far as picky eating... in our house, pressuring Maddie to eat things only made it worse and made mealtime very stressful. Every kid is different though. Its all part of them growing up!
